The Hotel’s History

“The Riviera Romagnola has to thank German for its good luck because they love lining up also when thy are on holiday and so are able to understand the maening of 400 beach umbrellas, 100 sunbeds and 1000 people in 50 metres of beach”- says Nantes Selvaggio. But these interpretations are very recent. It’s fair to remember that,on September 21, 1944, Rimini was completely destroyed after 388 bombings. A few years later, romagnole people started the recostruction and got into debt to give a impluse to tourism…
They finished the ink to sign the bills and built the first boarding houses; then the hotels… and now there are nights, campsites, restaurants, rotisseries, and the longest beach in the world… it’s longer than that one of Long Beach. It was only one of the “Italian-style miracle” without the intervention of Saints or Madonnas…
Do you remember Maria Pagliarani from Antonella’s boarding house of Rimini, who was tired of working as nurse in the operating theatre so pounded a strake into the beach, built a tent and gave it at the first tourist, in the late 50s? It was borning the “lifeguards” line who will became hoteliers… it was borning the myth and the legend of a beach…
And Caesar Hotel can be considered one of these “miracles” which created and supported the Riviera Romagnola myth… This adventure started during the reconstruction years…

The 50s: Necessity to rebuild – Mario Manuzzi, the progenitor, started from nothing, with a small sum of money, and changed his luck: he set up a holiday camp in Villamarina. So started a collaboration with the municipality with the purpose of exploing the sea to children account. But there was still lots to do: Valverde was still a pond full of cane thickets! Nevertheless, somebody started to dream, so the first seven hotels were set up while the rest was still open countryside.

1962 – the building of the Caesar Hotel started. It was a particular structure in the modern style: the only one with all balconies with a view of the sea…

Summer 1964 – the adveture started… people liked the hotel. Familiarity and tradition have been passed from father to son, trying to keep pace with time…

The rest is recent history – this tradition has been going on and renewing year by year, a tradition that has written and is still writing the history about the hospitality of the Riviera Romagnola.
